Working on a plane

There are a couple of hangars up in Ohio right now where a handful of highly skilled mechanics work dutifully to repair missionary aircraft so that those planes can go back overseas and serve their communities. They check propellers, engines, fuselage, wheels, wings… everything you can think of and a whole lot more. It is often very difficult labor and in very cramped conditions and yet they make do with what they have.

I spent a week there learning from some of these experts and my biggest takeaway was that there were no complaints about completing the work set before them. When God called me to missionary aviation it was a switch inside my soul that flipped from energetic-yet-fitful to calm-and-certain. There was all of a sudden no question in my mind about backing out or giving up. I was going to finish what God had called me to and that was it. Plain and simple.

Philippians 4:13-14
13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me. 14 Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble.

When God calls, he also strengthens. But don’t stop after verse 13. Verse 14 explains how: not alone. God calls His people to join together to accomplish His works and glorify His name.
